UN75 AWARENESS & DIALOGUES
Supporting the Global UN75 Conversation & Campaign for a better United Nations
As the world celebrates the 75th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations, UNA-YP is committed to continuing to act in the same spirit of facilitating cooperation and progress.
THE UN75 INITIATIVE
In order to mark the 75th Anniversary of the United Nations, Secretary General Guterres launched the UN75 campaign. The purpose behind the initiative was to use the 75th Anniversary as an opportunity to step back and evaluate what we have done so far, the good and the bad, and what we hope to achieve going forward. To this accord, the UN75 team launched the world's first, and largest global demorcatic initiative through the UN75 Survey, which you can take here: www.un75.online. Furthermore, the UN is gathering data from ‘UN75 Dialogues’ amongst members of civil society, to see what ‘we the people’ want for our United Nations. The data, ideas and conversations recorded in these civil society dialogues will be compiled into a report presented by the Secretary General to the General Assembly in January 2021.
Celebrating 75 Years of International Cooperation
UNA-YP & UN75
At UNA-YP, we hope to spearhead youth engagement with UN75 in the UK. We work with UN75 consultants in Geneva to facilitate, in a direct capacity, the voices of young people going past the doors of Geneva and New York. Our team of select UN75 liaisons represent UNAs from the breadth of the United Kingdom, primarily at the University level.
Through our network, we support students, universities and young people in having the critical conversations that we so desperately require at this critical global juncture. Discussions range from developments in foreign aid and humanitarian affairs, to climate action and LGBTQIA+ rights. The core objective being to ensure the voices of young people across the UK are making a difference to the trajectory the UN sets for the next generation of leaders.
The UNA-YP UN75 team is led by Nudhara Yusuf, who works as a UN75 Assistant with the Geneva team, as well as at the World Federation of United Nations Associations (WFUNA). She is supported on the team by Alexsandra Walczak and Kaiser Kang, both students at top global universities.
